Shalom Community Impact Center recognizes transportation is a major barrier to accessing services for refugees and immigrants, especially in the first year in their new home country. As such, SCIC provides a transportation service to help remove these barriers and bridge the gap between community members and access to medical care, education, healthy socialization, and student sports activities. We aim to inspire our community members to be full and active participants in everything Iowa has to offer. We will help new Iowans engage with their communities and become active, productive participants by providing rides to doctor and medical appointments, our programs including after school and CBESL, youth activities, and sporting events such as soccer clinics.
